In a NYTimes Article about the new Dragons owners, they mention changing the team logo and colors:

Silva plans an ambitious marketing effort with a new team logo and new colors because, he said, “The Dragons have fallen incredibly far behind.”

I wouldnt mind a newer logo, but I wish they could keep the current colors!

I wonder if they're planning on changing the team name or just updating the dragon logo. I hope they keep the same name. Personally, I think we have the best name and logo in the AFL right now so I hope they don't f*ck it up.

I would love for them to go back to the red pants with the black home jersey like in this picture:

honestly, i wouldnt mind it a whole change. hell if they even decide to change the name, i probably wouldnt care. i think the most important thing for them to do is
A. Get on TV more often including mentioned in the evening news
B. GET OUT OF THE COLISEUM!!! If you dont have a car, its near impossible to get out there.
C. Make is more affordable, I mean the cheapest ticket is $40. Thats just redic to watch and AFL game in my opinion.

I think these are the more critical steps in the re-birth of the Dragons, rather color and logo

I agree - as long as they put a lot of money into players, coaches and advertising, I could care less what the logo is.

If I am not mistaken doesn't Wang own the Coliseum. So, I wouldn't be suprised if there was a condition as part of the sale that stated that the Dragons would continue to play at the Coliseum. Giving Wang the chance to make money off of the Dragons by charging them to use the arena.

LEt me be clear of what I already know

There is only two arenas in NYC and two arenas in NJ

NY - MSG and Nassau
NJ - Newark and IZOD Center

NJ is out. There is no way that league would allow it. If the NJ get involved, it will be expansion team playing in Newark. IZOD Center will be torn down as soon as Nets move to make room for new stadium for Jets/Giants.

As for MSG, forget it. It wont happen. Trust me. Dragons would be on the bottom of the list. WAY BOTTOM because Knicks, Rangers and Liberty come first before others. Just ask NY Titans when they got screwed out and played 5 home games instead of 8 during 2008 NLL season. They are better off staying in Nassau because they would be 2nd tenant and get more respect from Wang. Dolan dont give damn about us. Look at his past lawsuit against Yankees and Jets. And, remember, he once own CityHawks and they were forced to play all home games on Monday night. No thanks. We dont need that.

Dragons - just want to be aware that Dragons was NOT from name the team contest. Wang picked that name - why - because hes from China. He was born in the year of Dragons according to Chinese folklore. Since he was born in the year of Dragons, it does make sense for the team to be named after him. To honor the cheapstake owner. :-)

So, when I heard the team was being sold, I wont be surprised if they change the team nickname, logo and color. I know for sure it wont be pink. :-)

If we're gonna change our name, I vote for the Nassau Kneebreakers

Honestly I wouldn't mind a color and logo change, not the name though. I love the name. I think changing to a green and white scheme would be fresh, no other team in the league really has that, and if you think about it its the only other color scheme that really fits well with the name Dragons. If we do completely change the name I think we should go with something more Long Islandish. The Barnstormers was a great name for Iowa why not try and make it fit long island. The Mariners? The Sounders? (LI Sound) The Sea Dragons Maybe? I think we should keep Dragons though, because everyone knows the now huge Rivalry as Dragons/Soul. Green and White with a new logo would be pretty sweet though, plus we would be able to know the lifers because the people still wearing the old Black and Red would stick out.

Green and white? Come on we spend hundreds on Dragons jerseys and they change every one or two years. Wheather it was removing the flame, changing the numbers to red, changing them back to yellow, then changing it back to red in '07. I dont want our colors to change, they rock. I could go for a new logo, though.

just a little quick paint job. green and white might not be a bad idea, although isnt that the colors of the Long Island Lizards? I like that our team has their own unique colors

Why would the league not allow them to move to NJ? It makes no sense for them to put an expansion team in Jersey...oh wait, now I get it.

And $40 is the cheapest seat? Really?

No dagodfather, I have no idea what this guy means. $45 can give you lower level seating in the preferred seats where the players can hear you talk to them and the people who sow you to your seats dust off the seats for you lol. The cheapest seat is like $15 I think. And green and white (maybe some silver/grey?) would be sweet with a new logo.

Are you guys nuts ??????????

What makes a team (besides its history) is its colors and logo after all would the RAIDERS be the RAIDERS if they wore powder blue ?????????

Every year I see an adjustment made to our unis and though I'm not thrilled with what we have now for once I would like to see the same uniform for a second season in a row and maybe get a little tradition started .

and dadrummer the green is horrible

That makes a little more sense. I was thinking, if the cheapest seat is $40, no wonder they never sell out.

Well if we went green and white I'm sure the logo would change. And I think this new ownership is the time to start the tradition. Think of a Drexel dragons or something. Or the Green they had for the Barcelona Dragons.
